The game can be played for pennies or thousands of dollars. Broadcasts of Poker tournaments have sparked huge audiences for cable and satellite distributors. In order to win, players must minimize losses with weak hands and maximize winnings with good hands.

The best hand is a trip sevens. Two distinct pairs of cards plus a fifth card are the other contenders.

The kitty is a special fund that is used to pay for new decks of cards and for food. All players are entitled to a share of this fund.

The anta-moment involving the smallest bet in the pot is the call. When you call, your opponent’s bet is in-line with yours. You may also bet more than you put in to make a bigger pot.

The “high card” is the best card to use when multiple players tie for the highest card. If you have the best card and nobody else has a pair, you may be forced to fold.
