Poker

Poker is a card game that can be played with a group. Each player has a set of five cards. The aim of the game is to form the best hand possible using the five cards.

Most games are played with a deck of 52 cards. Some games have wild cards that are added to the deck. These cards can take any suit. For instance, if a player has a pair of kings and a deuce, he can add an ace.

Poker is played in rounds. In a round, a dealer deals cards one at a time to each player. If all players call, play moves to the next round. Players can then raise or fold. Eventually, the betting stops when all but one player folds.

To determine which card is highest, each player shows their cards. If there are two or more players who tie for the highest card, the high card breaks the tie. This gives the highest hand the opportunity to win the pot.

Players can also make a forced bet. For example, if Charley had four aces, he probably was trying for a flush. When a forced bet is made, all other players must fold. Those who call the bet are given another chance to match the bet.

The player who is dealt the best hand in the last round takes the pot. In some variants, the player who has the highest hand in the last round is eliminated from play.
